Richard Ray Farrell Band

The Richard Ray Farrell Band brings together an exceptional lineup of some of the most seasoned and accomplished musicians on today’s European blues scene. Featuring Richard Ray Farrell, Julian Vaughn, Kris Jefferson, and Álvaro Gandul, the group delivers a powerful blend of authenticity, virtuosity, and deep-rooted blues tradition.

At the heart of the band is Richard Ray Farrell—guitarist, harmonica player, vocalist, and songwriter—born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. With a career spanning nearly five decades, Farrell has recorded 14 albums and toured internationally alongside blues legends such as Frank Frost, Big Jack Johnson, Lazy Lester, R. L. Burnside, Louisiana Red, Jimmy Carl Black, and Steve Guyger. A gifted songwriter, his 2021 acoustic release Thee Pints of Gin earned a nomination from the Blues Foundation for Acoustic Album of the Year. In 2026, he is set to release a new album with this outstanding ensemble.

Drummer Julian Vaughn, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, began performing in clubs at just 15 years old. By 17, he was already touring with the legendary Albert King, followed by a year-long tour with B. B. King. Afterward, he joined Ron Levy and relocated to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. Over the course of his career, Vaughn has shared the stage with an impressive roster including Mike Stern, Otis Rush, Johnny Copeland, Luther Allison, Jimmy McGriff, Lonnie Smith, Jack McDuff, Kenny Garrett, and Tete Montoliu.

Bassist Kris Jefferson, born in Brooklyn and raised in Jamaica, Queens, began playing at age 14, inspired by pioneers like Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. A self-taught musician deeply rooted in the New York City scene, Jefferson has built a diverse and dynamic career, performing and recording across genres with artists such as Curtis Salgado, Olu Dara, Hiram Bullock, Popa Chubby, Jerry Gonzalez, Liz McComb, Kirk Fletcher, and many more.

Completing the lineup is Álvaro Gandul, one of Spain’s most respected piano and organ players in blues, jazz, and fusion. He has performed with leading Spanish artists such as Raimundo Amador, Kiko Veneno, and Manolo Garcia, and serves as musical director for major acts including Alba Reche, as well as Kiko Veneno and Manolo García.

Together, the Richard Ray Farrell Band delivers a rich, high-energy blues experience rooted in tradition yet driven by world-class musicianship and decades of international performance.
